David Yurman Inc. is a high-end American designer jewelry company established by David Yurman with its headquarters in New York City. In total, There are 18 David Yurman boutiques spanning ten states and four boutiques across three international cities as of mid-2009. David Yurman Inc’s first international outlet was opened in Hong Kong's International Finance Center, with the the brand's Asia headquarters.

History of the Brand

David Yurman spent his early life on Long Island, N.Y. &  first experienced life as a designer & business man peddling small sculptures in his high school cafeteria. When he was 16, he met to Cuban welder & sculptor Ernesto Gonzales while visiting his relative in Provincetown, MA. Through sculpting, David realized an outlet & channel for his creativity, which he fostered over the subsequent two decades as an apprentice under the guidance of renowned sculptors Jacques Lipshitz and Theodore Rozack (he collaborated with Picasso & Modigliani). Following a year at NYU, David left college & backpacked across America to California where he sought refuge in the bohemian artist hub of Big-Sur. In the late 1960’s, David returned from his bohemian adventure to Greenwich Village where he began crafting alongside Hans Van de Bovenkamp. It was in his studio that David encountered Sybil Kleinrock, a gifted painter who, like David Yurman, just recently returned from the Californian beatnik scene. One day while wearing one of David Yurman’s pieces to an art event, Sybil Kleinrock’s adorment captivated the gallery owner who enquired if it was for sale. Although David Yurman had no desire of recreating something so personal, Sybil Kleinrock recognized the business potential. In the early 1970’s, the duo headed for the countryside and established Putnam Art Works. Over the course of the decade, David and Sybil exhibited their designs & paintings at numerous craft expositions, & in 1979 they tied the knot.

Running Putnam Art Works taught the couple about the marketplace for fine crafts and jewelry, laying the groundwork for the establishment of David Yurman Inc, in 1980. By 1985, Yurman had become famous for his signature cable bracelet. David Yurman Inc went on to produce various jewelry and watch lines for men and women, and his own signature fragrance and eyewear collection.
